These times are changing and reshaping into something I can't face

I saw The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (in 2D, non-iMAX, and I-can't-remember-how-many-fps)!  Read on for SPOILER-filled reaction comics~

I started twitching in my seat after 2 hours, but the movie held my attention throughout.  I enjoyed revisiting the rich world of The Hobbit, and appreciated the time lavished on the sets and creatures.  The designs were incredible!  The diversity amongst the dwarves' designs, the shots of The Shire and Rivendell, the gobelins and orcs and trolls and stone giants...amazing!

Okay, I had one big issue and it was with the horrific staging during the chase scene where Radagast leads the Wargs/Orcs away from Team Gandalf.  What the hell was going on in that scene?  Back and forth and back and forth, it felt like Team Gandalf was stuck behind the same rock the whole time, even though it was suggested that they were moving.
*Gollum (thanks, Ann)

I take it you haven't read the book ? The scene where the company gets to say thank you to the eagles is one of the rare that was not included in the movie (in the book, the eagles can talk, and were not summoned by Gandalf but intervened on their own initiative when they saw all that ruckus and fire from a distance)

I'd like to know whether you saw it in 3D HDF, 3D, or 2D!! I've heard bad reviews of the 3D HDF. Thanks! I enjoyed your interpretations!

I haven't read the book since grade school, and what I remember from it is inextricably tangled with memories of the Rankin/Bass animated movie.
The eagles' intervening was pretty clutch--I'm glad to hear they were properly thanked in a different telling! :P

Thanks, Terry! I saw the movie in plain old 2D. 3D hurts my eyes and it's too expensive for me to justify. I only see movies in 3D when someone else is paying and they insist upon 3D.

I just need to tell you it's Gollum, not Golem. :)

Maybe the next movie will begin with the eagles being thanked! We can only hope...

Fun comics. I totally liked this movie!

I love reading your reaction comics! I usually try to watch the movie before reading them. I made it a point to watch Skyfall before reading your comics for it. Breaking Dawn Part 2... not so much.

Anyway, I saw Hobbit in 3D HFR. You're probably better off watching it in 2D, but the 3D HFR might not hurt your eyes like normal 3D. I usually have a problem with a flickering effect in 3D movies, but didn't have a problem with the 3D HFR Hobbit. It totally makes everything look like a videogame though.

I'd say it's worth sneaking into a 3D HFR showing to check out a few minutes, just to see what the difference is.

Such a good review. Totally what I thought. I think the dual personality of Gollum was captured much better this time even because of the slower pacing. Good times.

1) I love that you re-named all the Dwarves. Grudge! Seriously.

2) Sebastian! Mr.Poop-Face! Baaaahahahaha! I was fully prepared to be irrationally enraged if Sebastian died fo's reals. He/she was probably my favorite character in the whole movie ;P

3) Um, elves, judging you. Ha!

4) Neckticals...I wanted to blow air out of my mouth in an homage to vomiting every time I saw him onscreen. Guh-ross.

I am very glad you liked The Hobbit and I love your reaction comics :)

One of my 'captcha's is "crumbers". That's my new favorite word:

"What? We're out of jam again? Aw, crumbers!"
