I had the Holy Musical B@man soundtrack stuck in my head ALL DAY Thursday before watching the movie. It was hilarious how many of the jokes and themes from the play made appearances in the movie. Most relevant:
Anyway, on to the comics!
There was a 2-ish-minute stretch while Batman was chasing down Talia al Ghul where I completely spaced out and couldn't tell you what I'd just seen. Bleh. A bit is good but more than 30 seconds of people punching each other or shooting or whatever without breaks and my brain shuts off.
I looooved the movie. From the complaints I've heard from friends, it sounds like the main difference between us is that I WANT neat, happy endings. That's exactly what I like (Dickens fan!). The darker and more pessimistic the story, the more satisfying it is when I actually get a happy ending. And this was the neatest, happiest possible ending for the DARK GRITTY trilogy, so I was extremely satisfied.
Last, here are my notes from the premiere if you are interested. A lot of these got cut or altered on their way to the comics:

no comments??!!! THIS WAS AWESOME REVIEW!!!
I've been waiting for your review, I love when you do these. Great job.
In your notes you say "you've turned Tom Hardy scary"... I assume that means you've never seen him in Bronson? There you can see him all muscular, without a mask, and totally scary.
I really like your very humorous, thoughtful commentary on the movie. Catwoman was pretty awesome and the rise of Batman was epic. Curious though what your thoughts on Talia were. I get that that would have been a REAL spoiler, but still curious nevertheless.
This was a great synopsis after having seen it :)
Your point of view on Catwoman is perfect! I felt the exact same way about the heels until I saw her pin the guy's wrist with them. Then I was sold. The best panel by far though is the stocktrade motorcycle boyfriends. XD Love it!
I was really hoping it was going to go full Dark Knight Returns, like with a bunch of them, and that they would have like a V For Vendetta scene with a buncha Batmen, but alas, just cops running into gunfire and a single heir who had trouble with two construction workers. Still pretty good though!
Everything YOU thought I thought. Next time, I'll wear my Magneto helmet so you can't hear my thoughts, Jean!
Brilliant! :)
